My Echo Flask™ is Leaking

When you first start using your Flask, you may notice a few water droplets forming at the bottom near the oxygen port—this is completely normal! During the assembly process, the generator housing membrane is kept soaked at all times. To maintain this, it's placed in a bin of filtered water, which fills the top and bottom cavities of the generator with water. When you begin running cycles, a small amount of this water may be released as a purge.

Simply wipe the outside dry and continue running a few more cycles, and this will subsides

Most leaks can be resolved by following these quick tips:

Overfilling

Let’s start with the most common culprit: overfilling.

  • Make sure you fill the bottle only up to the shoulder (that’s where the curve starts)—no liquid should peek through the spout.
  • Overfilling can lead to spills or leaks, especially during the hydrogen generation process.

Running consecutive cycles without releasing the pressure

  • Fully release the pressure before running more than two 10-minute cycles.

  • This does not affect the bottle’s performance.

Common Leak Areas and How to Fix Them

1. Leaks from the Generator (Base)

  • What to look for: A drip near the small oxygen port (next to the serial number on the bottom).
  • How to fix it:
    • Place the bottle upright and let any trapped water drain out.
    • If it is your first time using or if the bottle has been jostled around a lot, water can get stuck in the bottle.
    • Run a few cycles, wiping the outside of the bottle each time. The leak should stop.
    • Good news: This doesn’t affect the bottle’s performance! Once it's clear, your flask will still work like a charm.

2. Leaks from the Lid or Cap

  • A leak from a new bottle: This can happen if your bottle has been idle or the membrane is a bit dry.
    • Run a few cycles, and it should resolve itself.
  • Pressure Release: Make sure to release the pressure after every cycle. If the pressure builds up, it might cause a leak.
  • Check the Gasket: Give the gasket in the lid a quick clean! You can use tweezers to remove and inspect it—sometimes, it just needs a little love.
