Initial Set up

STEP 1A

Wrap #9 (Drain Valve Assembly) with three clockwise wraps of Teflon® tape.

Install/thread #9 (Drain Valve Assembly) into #3.

STEP 1B

Connect #3 to #2 on the bottom of Filter Housing #1.

The threaded Drain Valve Assembly should be on the inlet side (right side) at the bottom of the tank.

Installing the Cartridges
Step 2: Removing the Cap

STEP 2A
-
Unseat the snap ring by pushing down on the top cap with both hands.
-
Remove the ring by taking the handle and pulling inward, then upward; the ring should slide completely out.
STEP 2B
-
Remove the snap ring on the top of the tank, then remove the top cap from the housing assembly.
-
Lift up on the handles to pull the cap out of the top of the tank.
STEP 3: Filter Preparation
STEP 3A

Remove the filter cartridge from the packaging.
-
Place the cartridge into the tank with the O-ring facing down.
-
Align the cartridge with the bottom center opening of the tank.
-
(Note: There’s a small opening in the bottom center of the tank to help with alignment.)
-

Press down on the filter cartridge so the O-ring moves down into place.
STEP 4: Reattach the Cap
STEP 4A
- Once the cartridge is placed in the house

Place the top cap back into its original location.
STEP 4B
- Reattach the snap ring.
- Pull up on the cap to lock in the O-rings.
STEP 5: Repeat
- Repeat these steps 2-4 for the second filter cartridge you received
🔁Replacing the Cartridge
Filter Replacement and Operation Guidelines
-
Flushing Requirement: New cartridges must be flushed for at least 10 minutes prior to use.
-
Compliance: Installation and operation must comply with all state and local plumbing codes and regulations.
-
Water Safety Notice:
Do not use this system with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without proper disinfection before or after the system.-
Note: Systems certified for cyst reduction may be used on disinfected waters that contain filterable cysts.

How To Replace the Cartridge:
- Step 1: Turn off the water supply to the system by shutting off the inlet and outlet valves on the bypass.
-
Step 2 (Optional): Install a 3/8" PEX tubing hose to the provided fitting and shut-off that connects to the inlet side of the filtration system.
- Run the hose to a floor drain or bucket and use to drain sediment or to aid in filter removal during change-out.
-
Step 3: Remove umbrella cap on the top of the vessel.
- Replace the 3 AAA batteries with new batteries.
- Push and hold the reset button on the metered board for 3 seconds to reset the totalizer.
- When the totalizer is reset, the LED lights will flash green 3 times to confirm that it is reset.
-
Step 4: Depressurize the system by pushing down on the red depressurization button on the top cap of the system.
- Keep the button pushed down until all the air or water pressure is completely released.
- Step 5: Push down the top cap with both hands to unseat the retaining ring.
-
Step 6: Remove the retaining ring by carefully grasping the handle and pulling inward, then upward.
- The retaining ring should slide completely out of the groove.
-
Step 7: Remove the top cap of the system by lifting up on the top handles.
- Remove the old filter.
Note: The filter adapter (yellow/white in color) may come loose from the bottom connection when removing the filter and should be reinstalled into the bottom connection for proper installation of the new filter.
- Remove the old filter.
- Step 8: Open the fitting and shut-off, then flush out the bottom of the system.
- Step 9: Look down into the tank assembly and locate the small opening centered in the bottom of the tank.
- Step 10: Remove packaging from the new filter and place the new cartridge into the tank with the double O-ring facing down.
- Step 11: Position the cartridge so that it is aligned with the bottom center opening.
- Step 12: Press down on the cartridge so that the double O-ring seal moves into place within the bottom center opening.
- Step 13: Reposition the top cap into its original location.

Step 14: Reattach the top tank snap ring.
- Pull up on the top cap to seat the O-rings.
- Step 15 (If Step 2 was completed): Close the fitting and shut-off.
- Step 16: Turn the water supply on and open the inlet and outlet valves on the bypass.

Step 17: Relieve the system of air in the tank as the system fills with water by pushing down on the red depressurization button on the top cap of the system.
- Keep the button pushed down until all air pressure is completely released and water comes out of the red depressurization button.
- Step 18: Release the red depressurization button.
- Step 19: Return the umbrella cap to the top of the system.
- Step 20: Check for leaks.
- Step 21: Flush the new cartridge per installation instructions to drain.

Step 22: During flush, confirm green LED lights are flashing with flowing water.
- If lights are not flashing green, go back to Step 3.

⚠️ Warnings & Important Notes
⚡ Electrical Grounding in Metal Plumbing Systems
-
If this or any other system is installed in a metal (conductive) plumbing system (e.g., copper or galvanized metal),
the plastic components of the system will interrupt the continuity of the plumbing system. -
As a result, any errant electricity from:
-
Improperly grounded appliances downstream, or
-
Potential galvanic activity in the plumbing system
can no longer ground through contiguous metal plumbing.
-
-
Some homes may have been built in accordance with building codes that encouraged grounding electrical appliances through the plumbing system.
-
Therefore, prior to using your system, you must install one of the following to reestablish electrical continuity:

A bypass consisting of the same material as the existing plumbing, or
-
A grounded jumper wire bridging the equipment.

Proper Installation Sequence:
Incoming Water Line → Water Softener → 50 Micron/20 Micron Double Pleat Cartridge (inside filter housing) → 3 Micron Carbon Block Filter (inside filter housing) → Water Heater → Main Home Water Line

Where to Install:
Installation Overview
Step 1: Choose the Right Location
-
Install the system before the main water line reaches your water heater, ideally near where the line enters your home.
-
Ensure at least 3 feet of open space above the system to allow for easy cartridge replacements.
Step 2: Prepare the Plumbing before Install
-
Turn off the main water supply.
-
Open a faucet inside your home to relieve pressure and drain water from the lines.
Step 3: Maintain Electrical Grounding
-
If your home has metal plumbing (like copper), ensure grounding is preserved by installing a ground clamp or jumper wire on the cold water line.
Step 4: System Requirements & Connections
-
All plumbing must follow local and state plumbing codes.
-
The inlet and outlet ports are 1” male NPT threaded connections.
-
Use hand-tightening only.
Do not use tools, lubricants, or unapproved sealants—this will void the warranty. -
Connect the system to cold water only.
Step 5: Meter Setup
-
Insert 3 AAA batteries (not included).
-
The system is preset to 100,000 gallons.
-
Adjust meter settings (manual below) based on the filter specification sheet to align with your specific filter’s lifespan.

If your water conditions exceed the system’s specified limits, filter life may be shortened, and warranty could be void.
-
To activate and properly flush the cartridge:
-
Run water through the system at 7 GPM for 60 minutes.
-
Follow all installation flushing instructions closely.
-
Water Meter (Totalizer Notifier) Manual
Overview: The overall purpose of this device is to receive a water meter input and totalize the amount of water that passes through the meter.
-
When there is flow through the water meter, the lights flash at a rate that increases with the water flow rate.
-
When the total amount of water flowed reaches within 10% of a pre-selected amount, the totalizer turns yellow.
-
When the total amount reaches the pre-selected amount, the totalizer turns red.
Power
-
This unit is to be powered using +12VDC.
-
The power input is a wire tail with a 2.5 mm center-positive barrel jack.
-
Battery Backup
-
The totalizer includes a battery backup using 3 AAA size batteries.
-
The battery holder is part of the PCB assembly and can be accessed by removing the lid to the cartridge filter.
-
-
Battery Life (Approximate):
- High continuous flow: < 7 days
- No flow: Up to 6 months
Water Meter Operation
-
The totalizer uses a turbine-style water meter with a magnetic pickup that sends a pulse to the electronics for every revolution.
-
The meter turbine is removable for inspection and cleaning.
-
Always bypass or shut off the water supply before removing the meter.
-
The meter connects to the electronic board using a 3-pin plug.
LED Indicators: LEDs display the system status based on the percentage of totalized flow:

Yellow | 90% – 100% | Approaching max capacity |
Red | >100% | Max capacity exceeded |
Flow Pattern:
-
During flow: LEDs turn off in a pattern: 1-2-3-2 (repeat).
-
Frequency of LED pattern is linearly correlated to the water flow rate.
-
Each meter revolution advances the LED pattern.
-
No flow for 2 seconds: All LEDs turn solid ON.
Low Battery Indicator:
-
If the battery is low, the middle LED (#2) will turn blue.
-
Battery check occurs once per hour to conserve power.
Pushbutton Functions
Resetting the Totalizer
-
Flip the umbrella cover to view the logo/sticker.
-
While looking at the top, press and hold the button on the electronics board for 3 seconds.
-
When reset is complete, LEDs flash green three times.
LED Value Indicators:
-
Green LED (LED1) = 100,000s place
-
Blue LED (LED2) = 10,000s place
Programming the Total Gallon Limit
-
Press and hold the push button.
-
While holding, power up the board (using 12VDC or battery).
-
Once powered:
-
LED 1 (Green, right side): Represents the 100,000s place.
-
LED 2 (Blue, middle): Represents the 10,000s place.
-
-
Both LEDs flash at 1 Hz to show current programmed value:
-
LEDs flash white for 1 second to signal the start.
-
Then flash the number of times equal to the digit being represented.
-
After both LEDs finish, wait 2 seconds and the sequence will repeat.
-
Power Monitoring and Battery Mode
-
The board monitors both the 12VDC power supply and battery power.
-
In the event of a power failure and no batteries are installed, the current totalizer value is saved to non-volatile memory.
-
When power is restored, the totalizer count resumes from the point where it lost power.
Battery Mode Behavior:
-
During battery operation, the LEDs remain off to conserve power.
-
If the totalizer is in a yellow or red state, or if the battery voltage becomes low:
-
The right LED will flash on in the appropriate color (yellow or red) for 0.125 seconds every 30 seconds.
-

Do not use water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after installing the filter or system.

Systems certified for cyst reduction may be used on disinfected water that may contain filterable cysts.

Any system this filter is installed in must be maintained according to manufacturer’s instructions, including replacement of filter cartridges.
