Product Support Notice

This model was not sold by Echo Water and we do not support with replacement parts or repair services. However, our team is happy to assist with basic troubleshooting.

The model we currently sell that is comparable to this model is our Echo H2 Machine.

If the troubleshooting steps in this guide do not resolve your issue, we may not be able to provide additional support or replacement components for the unit. For information about available upgrade options, please contact inboundsales@echowater.com.

For complete information regarding installation, operation, parts identification, and system functions, please refer to the attached owner's manual.

Filter Replacement Option

If the back of your filter has a greenish color:
That indicates you're using an older-style filter that we no longer carry. In this case, you'll need to update the cushion to fit the current filter style.

The current Echo Ultimate Tag Filter is compatible with your system once the new cushion has been installed.

For the initial replacement, please contact inboundsales@echowater.com and we will provide:

  • Echo Ultimate Tag Filter
  • Universal Main Filter Cushion (SKU 10084)

Once the cushion has been replaced, all future filter replacements will simply require ordering the Echo Ultimate Filter. No additional parts or modifications will be needed.

If your filter is cream-colored and has an arrow on the back:
Your system already has the updated cushion installed.

Moving forward, you can simply order the Echo Ultimate Filter whenever a replacement is needed, as it is the correct filter for your system.

Filter Replacement Instructions

Before You Begin

Turn off the water supply to the ionizer before replacing the filter.

Replace the filter when the filter icon begins flashing on the display.

Step 1: Remove the Filter Housing Cover

Open the filter housing cover and slide it off the unit.

Step 2: Remove the Existing Filter

  1. Firmly grasp the filter.
  2. Press the filter downward against the spring-loaded mechanism to release it from the upper housing connection.
  3. Pull the filter outward and then upward to remove it from the unit.

Note: The top portion of the filter is secured by a spring-loaded mechanism. Once pressed downward, the filter can be easily removed.

Step 3: Transfer the Filter Cup

  1. Remove the gray filter cup from the bottom of the old filter.
  2. Insert the gray filter cup into the base of the filter housing.

Step 4: Install the New Filter

  1. Remove the protective plastic caps from both ends of the new filter cartridge.
  2. Position the bottom opening of the filter onto the housing base.
  3. Push the filter downward and inward until it locks securely into place.
  4. Verify that both the top and bottom connections are properly seated.

Step 5: Check for Leaks

Before replacing the housing cover, run water through the ionizer and inspect for any leaks.

Step 6: Flush the New Filter

New filters contain granular activated carbon (GAC), which may cause temporary discoloration.

  • Water may initially appear light gray or charcoal-colored.
  • This is normal and harmless.
  • Allow water to run in Filtered Water Mode for 2–3 minutes, or until the water runs clear.

Step 7: Reset the Filter Life Indicator

  1. Ensure the unit is in standby mode (water is not flowing).

When properly reset, the FILTER REPLACE light will no longer be illuminated.

Step 8: Reinstall the Housing Cover

Slide the filter housing cover back into place.

When to Replace the Filter

Replace the filter if any of the following occur:

  • The filter replacement indicator is activated.
  • Severely contaminated water has been processed through the unit.
  • Water flow becomes significantly reduced.
  • Unpleasant odors develop in the water.
  • The ionizer has been unused for more than 30 days.

Echo 7 Troubleshooting Guide

1. Display Panel Does Not Power On

Possible Cause

  1. Power cord is not fully inserted or the outlet is not functioning properly.
  2. Blown or improperly installed fuse.

Solution

  1. Verify that the power cord is securely connected and plugged into a working electrical outlet.
  2. Replace the fuse with a 3A / 250V fuse. A spare fuse may be included with the unit.

2. Display Panel Does Not Activate When Water Is Running

Possible Cause

  • Internal PCB (Printed Circuit Board) failure.

Solution

  • Immediately unplug the unit.

Unfortunately, no service or repair options are available for this model.

3. Alkaline Water Tests Neutral While Acidic Water Tests Correctly

Possible Cause

  1. Source water pH is naturally low (approximately pH 6.5).
  2. Expired or degraded pH reagent.

Alkaline and acidic water are produced in opposite proportions. If acidic water is testing correctly, the unit is still generating alkaline water. Reagent degradation may prevent accurate color development.

Solution

  • Test using Level 3 or Level 4 alkaline water.
  • Replace the pH reagent solution if necessary.

4. Unit Shuts Off During Operation

Possible Cause

  • High TDS (Total Dissolved Solids)
  • Elevated salt content
  • Extended operation at high pH settings
  • Electrical fluctuations

Solution

  • Wait approximately one hour before restarting the unit.

The ionizer includes an automatic safety mechanism that temporarily shuts the system down to protect internal electrodes and circuitry.

5. Low Alkaline Water Output

Possible Cause

  1. Clogged filter.
  2. Low household water pressure.
  3. Bent, kinked, or restricted inlet tubing.

Solution

  1. Replace the filter or clean the pre-filter.
  2. Ensure all supply valves are fully open and verify adequate incoming water pressure.
  3. Inspect and straighten any restricted tubing.

6. Unusual Odor in Alkaline Water

  1. Expired or clogged filter - Replace the filter.
  2. Temporary changes in municipal water quality.
    • Some water supplies experience seasonal increases in naturally occurring compounds that may create noticeable odors when water is ionized.
      1. Use a lower pH setting (Level 1 or 2).
      2. Replace the filter if the odor persists.

7. White or Snow-Like Particles in Water

High mineral hardness, primarily calcium. The white particles are calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) that becomes visible during ionization. This is common in hard water areas.

These minerals are harmless and naturally present in your water.

Reduce the ionization level to Setting 1 or 2 if desired.

8. Water Develops an Odor After Sitting

  1. Contaminated water bottle or storage container.
    1. Thoroughly clean all bottles and storage containers.
    2. Use a lower pH setting (Level 1 or 2).
  2. Expired filter - Replace the filter if necessary.

9. Water Leaking from Filter Housing

Possible Cause

Filter is not properly seated in the housing.

Solution

Remove and reinstall the filter according to the replacement instructions. Verify all connections are fully seated before operating the unit.

10. No Acidic Water Flow

Possible Cause

Acidic water discharge hose is bent, kinked, or blocked.

Solution

  • Straighten the hose.
  • Remove any obstructions.
  • Increase incoming water flow if necessary.
