Echo Pitcher Filter Initial Setup & Usage
Welcome to the Echo Family! Your new Echo Family Pitcher Filter is here to make every sip of water clean, pure, and refreshing. Let’s get started with setting up your pitcher!
Step 1: Unbox Your Pitcher
First, let’s take everything out of the box.
-
Remove the Pitcher Housing and Filter: Carefully take out the pitcher body and the filter from the packaging.
-
Unwrap and Inspect: Make sure all the parts, including the pitcher and filter, are free from any packaging materials.
You’re now ready to prepare the filter.
Step 2: Prepare and Install the Filter
Before you use the filter, we need to give it a quick rinse.
-
Rinse the Filter: Hold the filter under cold running water. Keep it there until the water coming out is clear. If you see some black sediment at first, that’s normal—just keep rinsing until it’s gone.
-
Insert the Filter: Place the filter into the pitcher housing, making sure it’s in tightly to avoid leaks.
Step 3: Assemble the Pitcher
Now let’s put everything together.
-
Position the Canister: Place the canister into the pitcher with the black area facing the handle.
-
Filling the Canister: Pour water into the canister until it reaches the fill line, indicated by a lip around the upper edge of the canister. When filled to this level, the canister holds approximately 24 ounces. Be careful not to overfill.
*See the Troubleshooting guide below if this has occurred.

- Filtration: The water will flow through the filter and fill the pitcher. When the water reaches the canister level (approximately 35 ounces), your pitcher is ready.
Step 4: Use and Enjoy
Your Echo Family Pitcher Filter is now set up and ready to use!
-
Optional: Run a Hydrogenation Cycle: If your pitcher has this feature, run the cycle as described in the pitcher’s instructions.
-
Enjoy Your Water: Pour yourself a glass of fresh, filtered water and hydrate to your heart’s content.
Understanding Your Filter
The Echo Family Pitcher Filter is designed with cutting-edge filtration technology to ensure you have access to the cleanest and purest water possible. At the heart of this system is the KDF55 filter, a highly effective filtration medium that offers numerous benefits.
Understanding the KDF55 Filter
The KDF55 filter in your Echo Family Pitcher is made from a high-purity copper-zinc alloy that is specifically designed to remove contaminants from water through a process called redox (oxidation-reduction reaction). This powerful filter is one of the key reasons your Echo Family Pitcher is so effective in delivering high-quality, filtered water.
Benefits of the KDF55 Filter:
-
Reduces Heavy Metals: KDF55 effectively reduces heavy metals like chlorine, lead, mercury, and other harmful contaminants from your water, making it safer and healthier to drink.
-
Controls Microorganisms: This filter helps control the growth of bacteria, algae, and fungi within the pitcher, ensuring that your water stays fresh and clean.
-
Eliminates Bad Taste and Odor: The KDF55 filter reduces chlorine and other chemical contaminants that can cause unpleasant tastes and odors, giving you water that’s safe and refreshing.
-
Exceptional Filtration: The high-quality Activated Carbon (AC) filter effectively removes organic chemicals, pesticides, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), heavy metals, and odor-causing contaminants. It also targets and removes PFA chemicals, including PFOS, PFNA, and PFAS.
-
Prolong Filter Life: The KDF55 material can extend the life of the carbon filter by reducing the chlorine content before it reaches the carbon stage, enhancing the overall efficiency and longevity of your pitcher’s filter system.

This overview helps users understand why the KDF55 filter is a crucial part of their Echo Family Pitcher and the benefits it provides in delivering clean, safe, and great-tasting water.
Compatible Water Usage
Your Echo Family Pitcher Filter is designed to work with various types of water, providing you with clean, fresh, and safe drinking water. Here’s a breakdown of the types of water you can use:
1. Tap Water
-
Ideal for Everyday Use: The Echo Family Pitcher is specifically designed to filter standard tap water. The KDF55 filter effectively removes contaminants such as chlorine, lead, mercury, and other heavy metals commonly found in municipal water supplies.
-
Convenient and Cost-Effective: Using tap water in your pitcher is both convenient and economical, allowing you to enjoy filtered water directly from your tap.
2. Well Water
-
Safe for Use: If your home uses well water, you can safely use it in the Echo Family Pitcher. The KDF55 filter can handle additional contaminants, such as iron and sulfur, present in well water, providing cleaner, better-tasting water.
-
Recommended Testing: It’s always a good idea to have your well water tested regularly to ensure its safety and to identify any specific contaminants that may be present.
3. Bottled Water
-
Optional Use: While the Echo Family Pitcher is designed to filter tap and well water, you can also use bottled water if preferred. The filter will further purify the water, removing any residual contaminants or impurities.
4. Do Not Use:
-
Saltwater: The Echo Family Pitcher is not designed to filter saltwater or seawater. Using saltwater in the pitcher can damage the filter and the internal components of the pitcher.
-
Non-Potable Water: Avoid using water from unverified or non-potable sources, such as rivers, lakes, or ponds, as these can contain harmful microorganisms and pollutants that the filter may not be able to adequately remove.
Maintenance Of The Echo Pitcher Filter
Proper maintenance of your Echo Family Pitcher Filter is essential to ensure you continue enjoying clean and refreshing water. Here’s everything you need to know about maintaining your filter for optimal performance.
Filter Capacity and Replacement Schedule
The filter in your Echo Family Pitcher has a capacity of 150 liters, which translates to approximately 88 full pitcher uses. Monitoring filter usage and replacing it when necessary is important to ensure your water remains of the highest quality.
When to Change the Filter:
-
Capacity Limit: The filter is designed to handle up to 150 liters of water. Once you reach this limit, the filter’s effectiveness at removing contaminants may decrease.
-
Rule of Thumb: As a general guideline, changing the filter every 90 days is recommended. This timeframe ensures that your filter is functioning at its best, even if you haven’t reached the full 150-liter capacity.
-
Water Quality: If you notice any changes in the taste or odor of your water, it might be a sign that the filter needs to be replaced sooner, especially if you use your pitcher more frequently.
How to Replace the Filter
-
Remove the old filter: Open the pitcher lid and carefully remove the canister to access the filter. Dispose of the old filter according to your local waste management guidelines.
-
Prepare the new filter: Follow the instructions provided earlier to prepare your new filter by running water through it until it’s clear.
-
Insert the new filter: Place it into the canister, ensuring it is securely seated to prevent leaks.
-
Reassemble the pitcher: Place the canister back into the pitcher, fill it with water, and you’re ready to enjoy fresh, filtered water again!
Tracking Filter Usage
-
Keep a Log: Consider keeping a simple log or marking your calendar to track when you installed a new filter and when it should be replaced. This can help you stay on top of filter changes without the guesswork.
Cleaning
Keeping your Echo Family Pitcher Filter clean is essential for ensuring the best-tasting, highest-quality water. Follow these steps to properly clean your pitcher:
1. Hand Wash Only
-
Never Put in Dishwasher: Your Echo Family Pitcher is designed to be hand-washed only. Do not place the pitcher or any of its components in the dishwasher, as the heat and detergents can damage the materials.
2. Remove the Filter Before Washing
