Initial Setup & Usage
Welcome to the Echo Family! Your new Echo Pitcher Filter is designed to give you clean, safe, and great-tasting water. Follow these steps to get started.
Step 1: Unbox Your Pitcher
Remove the pitcher housing and filter from the packaging.
Check that all parts are free from packaging materials.
Step 2: Prepare and Install the Filter
Rinse the Filter: Hold it under cold running water until the water runs clear. Black sediment at first is normal.
-
Insert the Filter: Place it into the pitcher housing securely to avoid leaks.
Step 3: Assemble the Pitcher
Below is a video on how to assemble your Echo Pitcher Filter and Cartridge with your Echo Pitcher.
Step 3A: Place the canister into the pitcher with the black area facing the handle.
Step 3B: Fill the canister with water up to the fill line (~24 ounces). Do not overfill.
Overfilling may cause leakage from the top of the pitcher to enter the handle area, water condensation in handle + base area, water trapped behind the display and leakage from charging port.
Step 3C: Water will flow through the filter and fill the pitcher (~35 ounces).
Step 4: Use and Enjoy
Pour a glass of fresh, filtered water and hydrate!
Your pitcher is ready for everyday use.
❔Will the pitcher hold less water with the pitcher housing and filter?
The pitcher operates as a gravity-fed system, with the housing and filter working together to hold the same amount of water. However, only about half of the water is filtered and hydrogenated at a time. As you pour from the pitcher, the remaining water filters through, allowing it to be hydrogenated as well. This process ensures you always have freshly filtered water ready to enjoy.
❔Does the pitcher housing and filter slow down the process?
While the filtration process isn’t instantaneous like from a tap, it’s designed to be both effective and efficient and allows you to use tap water in your pitcher whereas normally, you would need to use filtered water. You will notice that the filtering speed increases with continued use.
Understanding Your Filter
The KDF55 filter is a copper-zinc alloy that removes contaminants through a redox (oxidation-reduction) reaction.
Benefits:
Reduces Heavy Metals: Removes chlorine, lead, mercury, and other harmful contaminants.
Controls Microorganisms: Reduces bacteria, algae, and fungi growth.
Improves Taste & Odor: Reduces chlorine and other chemical contaminants.
Exceptional Filtration: Targets VOCs, pesticides, organic chemicals, and PFAS compounds.
Prolongs Filter Life: Reduces chlorine before it reaches the carbon stage, extending efficiency.
Compatible Water Usage
1. Tap Water
Ideal for everyday use: The Echo Pitcher is specifically designed to filter standard tap water. The KDF55 filter effectively removes contaminants such as chlorine, lead, mercury, and other heavy metals commonly found in municipal water supplies.
Convenient and cost-effective: Using tap water in your pitcher is both convenience and economical, allowing you to enjoy filtered water directly from your tap
2. Well Water
Safe to use: If your home uses well water, you can safely use it in the Echo Family Pitcher. The KDF55 filter can handle additional contaminants, such as iron and sulfur, present in well water, providing cleaning, better tasting water.
Recommended testing: It's always a good idea to have your well water tested regularly to ensure its safety and to identify any specific contaminants that may be present.
3. Bottled Water
Optional use: While the Echo Family Pitcher is designed to filter tap and well water, you can also use bottled water if preferred. The filter will further purify the water, removing any residual contaminants or impurities.
4. Do Not Use
Saltwater: The Echo Family Pitcher is not designed to filter saltwater or seawater. Using saltwater in the pitcher can damage the filter and the internal components of the pitcher.
Non-potable sources (rivers, lakes, ponds): Avoid using water from unverified or non-portable sources, such as rivers, lakes, or ponds, as these can contain harmful microorganisms and pollutants that the filter may not be able to adequately remove.
