What Type of Vinegar Should I Use to Clean My Echo Device?

Regular cleaning and descaling are important parts of caring for your Echo device, and using the right type of vinegar matters.

For cleaning and descaling your Echo device, we recommend:

Standard distilled white vinegar with 3–5% acidity

This is the regular white distilled vinegar commonly found in the cooking or condiment aisle at most grocery stores. It’s inexpensive, easy to find, and provides the appropriate acidity for removing mineral buildup without using unnecessarily strong cleaning products.

What to Look For

When purchasing vinegar, check the label for:

• Distilled white vinegar
• 3–5% acidity
• Standard food-grade white vinegar

Please avoid substituting other types of vinegar, even if you already have them at home.

Do not use:

• Apple cider vinegar — It contains additional organic compounds and can leave unwanted residue behind.
• Cleaning vinegar or high-acidity vinegar — These products can have a significantly higher acid concentration than standard white vinegar and are not recommended for your Echo device.
• Flavored, infused, or specialty vinegars
• Other household descaling chemicals unless specifically recommended by Echo Water
