Replacing the filters on your Echo RO unit is an important maintenance task to ensure continued clean, great-tasting water. Follow this guide to replace the filters safely and effectively.
What You’ll Need:
- New filters (specific to your Echo RO model)
- A towel or bucket (to catch any water drips)
- Wrench (Optional* for additional Leverage)
Steps to Replace the Filters:
1. Turn Off the Water Supply:
- Locate the water supply valve connected to your Echo RO unit.
- Turn it off to stop water flow while you replace the filters.
2. Release the Pressure:
- Important: Shut off the source water valve.
- Open the faucet connected to your Echo RO until “Water Lack” appears on the screen.
- This is crucial: Failing to release the pressure may damage the unit and Void Warranty.
3. Remove the Filters from Housing/Unit:
- Unscrew the filters from the housing/unit by turning them counterclockwise.
- They will turn about 90 degrees before releasing.
- You may use a rag for a better grip if needed. (Wrench can be used to grab top of filter for additional leverage)
- Be prepared with a towel or bucket to catch any water that spills from the bottom of the filters.
4. Remove the Old Filters:
- Carefully take out the old filters from the housings.
- Pay attention to the order and orientation of the filters so you can replace them correctly.
5. Install the New Filters:
- Insert the new filters into the housings in the same order and orientation as the old ones.
- Ensure they are seated properly, with the numbers facing the right side of the unit.
6. Reattach the Filter Housing:
- Screw the filters back onto the housing/unit securely; 90 degrees clockwise.
- Do not overtighten to avoid damaging the housing or O-rings.
7. Turn On the Water Supply:
- Slowly turn the water supply back on.
- Check for any leaks around the filter housings. If no leaks are present, you're good to proceed!
8. Flush the New Filters:
- The unit will automatically flush the new filters.
- If it doesn’t, select the flush option manually.
- Open the RO faucet and let the water run for 5-10 minutes to flush out air and loose carbon particles.
- This step ensures your water is clean and tastes good.
9. Check Your System:
- After flushing, check the water flow and taste.
- Everything should be running smoothly with no strange tastes or reduced flow.
Reset the Filter Life Indicator:
After replacing the filters, follow these steps to reset the individual filter life indicators:
- Press ‘Select’ for 3 seconds to enter selection mode.
- Tap the ‘Select’ option until you reach the filter you wish to reset.
- Press the ‘Reset’ button. The Filter Life Indicator Rectangles will light up fully, indicating the reset is complete.
Final Check:
Ensure the water flows well and tastes good after flushing, and that the filter life has been reset. Your Echo RO unit should now be ready for use!
