Short Answer: About every 5 years
Water Softener: The lifespan of the resin will vary depending on the levels of chlorine and metals in the incoming water. Chlorine and chloramine are especially damaging to resin. In areas where chlorine levels exceed 0.5 mg/L, it’s highly recommended to install a chlorine removal filter before the softener to help protect the resin. A general formula for estimating maximum resin life is 10 divided by the chlorine level in ppm—for example, at 2 ppm of chlorine, the resin's maximum lifespan would be approximately 5 years. Regular use of ProGuard and annual Cleaning & Disinfection can further extend the resin’s performance and longevity.
Water Conditioner: is typically good for up to 5 years or 500,000 Gallons
