Difference between the Old and the New Whole Home System

Old Echo Water Filtration System

• Pre-Filter: 20-micron
• Main Filter: Granulated Activated Carbon with KDF55 foam
• Post-Filter: Originally 0.5-micron → changed to 1-micron
• KDF55 Purpose: Increased zinc levels to boost hydrogen production via electrolysis — but later found to have minimal impact.
  • Converted Chlorine, didn't remove
• Foam Purpose: Helped prevent channeling by dispersing incoming water
• Performance Over Time: Declined gradually; main tank needed replacement after ~10 years
• Maintenance Costs: Pre & post filters changed every 3 months (~$270 every 1.5 years)
• Chloramine: Weak filtration after 5 years
• Did Not Filter: PFAS, Lead, Pharmaceuticals
