Is Hydrogen Water Carbonated? Is Hydrogen Water Carbonated?

Is Hydrogen Water Carbonated?

No — hydrogen water is not carbonated.

Hydrogen water contains dissolved molecular hydrogen (H₂), not carbon dioxide (CO₂). Carbon dioxide is the gas that gives soda, sparkling water, and seltzers their bubbles. Hydrogen, on the other hand, dissolves into water without creating carbonation or fizziness.

Why Hydrogen Water Isn’t Fizzy

1. Hydrogen behaves differently than carbon dioxide.

  • CO₂ creates pressure, bubbles, and fizz.

  • H₂ dissolves quietly into the water without fizzing up or changing the texture.

That means hydrogen water tastes and feels just like regular water — smooth and still.

2. Hydrogen doesn’t stay trapped the same way carbon dioxide does.

Carbonated drinks stay bubbly because CO₂ is held under pressure.
Hydrogen water isn’t pressurized, so even though hydrogen is dissolved into the water, it doesn’t create that sparkling sensation.

So What Exactly Is Hydrogen Water?

Hydrogen water is simply pure water infused with molecular hydrogen (H₂) — shown to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.

Even though it’s not fizzy, hydrogen is:

  • Tiny and highly bioactive

  • A selective antioxidant

  • Able to support cellular health and reduce oxidative stress

That’s why people drink it — not for the fizz, but for benefits.

But Can You Make Hydrogen Water Carbonated?

Yes, you can!
If you want hydrogen water with bubbles, you can:

  1. Hydrogenate your water first using your Echo device

  2. Then carbonate it in a soda maker or carbonation machine

Important: Never put carbonated water into your Echo device — it can damage the internal components.

Just hydrogenate first → then carbonate.

How Hydrogen Water and Carbonated Water Differ

Feature Hydrogen Water Carbonated Water
Contains hydrogen gas ✅ Yes (H₂) ❌ No
Contains carbon dioxide ❌ No ✅ Yes (CO₂)
Fizzy or bubbly? ❌ Still ✅ Fizzy
Health purpose Antioxidant & cellular support Taste/texture

Bottom Line

Hydrogen water is not carbonated, even though it contains a dissolved gas. It’s smooth, still, and tastes just like regular water — with added wellness benefits at the cellular level.

If you want bubbles, you can carbonate it afterward, but the hydrogen itself does not create carbonation.
